Cheesy Ground Beef Burger Pie

So this dish is kind of a hybrid of a cheeseburger and a pie - two all time favorite fast food items, but this recipe isn't going to do damage to your heart of your wallet.

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef
1/3 cup dill pickle slices, chopped
1 tspn mustard
2 tblspns dill pickle juice
2 cups shredded American cheese, divided
2 tblspns ketchup
1 can crescent rolls
1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
2 tblspns flour
2 tblspns milk

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F/190°C
  2. Unroll the crescent rolls and press them into the base and around the sides of a pie dish
  3. Cook the ground beef in a skillet until cooked, then drain away any excess juices.
  4. Stir through the chopped pickle, onion, mustard and ketchup
  5. Add the flour, milk and pickle juice. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture has thickened.
  6. Take off the heat and add 1 cup of the shredded cheese, spread evenly across the top.
  7. Pour the mixture into the pie dish and cook for 15 minutes.
  8. Remove from the oven and add another cup of cheese over the top. Leave standing until the cheese has melted.
  9. Garnish with pickles, mustard and ketchup.
